And just like that, the penultimate month of 2017 has arrived which means the countdown to Christmas is on. Only 24 days separate us from our Christmas dinners so before the shops become unbearable and look like a storm has ripped through them, I’ve put together a Christmas gift guide for the active type to give you a bit of a head start. Although I’m sure a lot of you have already started shopping!
Apple Watch 2
Apple is notorious for creating products that seem pointless until you have them. First it was the Ipad and now it’s the Apple Watch. You know I love wearable tech but this one is by far my favourite. Besides tracking your runs and being able to answer calls or respond to WhatsApp’s on your wrist, it helps to promote an all-round approach to health and fitness. It tracks your sleep and tells you how much or how little you’ve been standing. All it asks is for you to stand up for 1 minute, every hour. Sounds easy but when you’re having a Netflix Marathon on a Sunday or back to back meetings on a Monday, 1 minute of standing becomes a myth. This is my must have fitness tracker for 2017.
Power Speed Tights
I don’t know if it’s psychological or pure coincidence but every time I wear my speed tights I run fast. Not Usain Bolt fast, Tashi Skervin fast (which is faster?). My speed tights have accompanied me on many track and Barry’s sessions where in return I’ve ran my fastest miles and metres. And let’s not forget feeling like an absolute boss when you put them on. At £105 they may not be your everyday purchase which is why they make the best Christmas presents. They also come true to size but if in doubt, go a size up.
If he/she is in to distance running (5km and above) they need a pair of running shoes that are in it for the long run. I like to go the extra mile in Nike Lunar Glides because they have all the qualities needed for a pair of good running shoes. Supportive but not too clunky and still allow your feet to move. A pair of bad running shoes will only end in injury and regret . Get your gait tested and pick a shoe that’s best for you, but if you can, get a pair of Lunar’s.
Skins Compression Tights
I got a pair of Skins recovery compression tights a few months ago and they are my post workout staples. They help to increase the blood flow to your muscles which means that the post workout doms are kept to a minimum. As soon as I’m out of my gym clothes and showered, I put them on for the rest of the evening and simply relax. They also double up as cute leggings too and because they’re compression wear, they make your legs look smaller. Win, win.
Sweaty Betty Back pack
I’ve been lusting over Sweaty Betty’s All Sport backpack for some time because of its functional yet stylish workout to work design. I’m usually the girl who is lugging around a gym bag and a handbag, which reaps havoc on my shoulders. It’s also big enough to fit in laptops too and comes in three different colours but at the moment I am loving the black and rose gold combination.
So there you have it, my favourite fitness items for 2017. Let me know which products you’re loving and lusting over.
