For someone who spends a lot of time in black, it’s hard to believe that my favourite colour is actually yellow!
Yellow is such a beautiful, happy colour, but seeing as London seems to be in a permanent state of Autumn, leaving my home in anything other than navy or black is a rarity. But, when I visited Trace Publicity’s office and spotted this Twiggy inspired dress by Pretty Little Things, I fell in love and I swapped my boring office attire for a bit of fun in the sun. I loved playing dress up as a child, and 20 years later; I am still playing dress up!
Whenever I go for a run, I always pretend to be an athlete (Allyson Felix) competing in the Olympics. Every run has to be fast and I always try to beat my previous running time. I never go for leisurely jogs and because of this, I miss out on some of the beautiful things that come with running.
I love running as the sun rises, but I would never actually stop mid run to watch the sun as it wakes up London. I always take the scenic route, but I don’t have time to admire the view. I run to win, but a recent run with Nike has made me realise that there is so much more to running than winning.
Last week I achieved one of my life goals, to run 5km in under 20 minutes. I couldn’t help but beam with pride as I ran my fourth sub 20 minute 5km this week, because life hasn’t always been this fit.
I started exercising around the age of 17, when I noticed that I was gaining weight due to eating all of the rubbish that was being served at my college. I joined the gym because I wanted to look good, but I didn’t really know what I was doing so my training sessions were usually based around the cross trainer and other cardio machines. I didn’t know much about nutrition either, but I thought that eating things like Special K bars and Snack-a-Jacks would make me become healthy because that’s what the TV adverts said!
This year has been one of the best years of my life, but in order to attend all of the exciting blog events, photoshoots and produce blog content week in and week out alongside working full time, I have had to sacrifice something that is extremely important to me. My time.
Time is such a beautiful thing, but once it has passed us by, that’s it…it’s gone. We can’t pause or rewind back to our favourite moments, but I am determined to restore the work-life balance to ensure that I make each day better than the yesterday.
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, but due to time constraints, there are some limitations to what I can achieve before I go to work each morning.
I may not always have enough time to whip up a Michelin Star approved dish (who am I kidding, I never have the time to do this), but my breakfasts are always hearty and nutritious, to set me up for the day ahead. Here are a few of my favourite healthy breakfasts to have during the busy working week.
When I received an email from Nike asking me to take part in a photoshoot for the LDN Edit, I thought that I was going to vomit all over my desk because I was so nervous. But, after a few weeks of exchanging over excited Whatsapps and emails, Zanna, Aj, Natasha and I took to the streets of London to shoot the Run LDN Ladies London Edit.
There is nothing like coming home from a long day at work and listening to the beautiful voice of Miguel as you soak in a candle lit bubble bath. I wish that I could end every day with a candle lit bath, but between working and blogging, I don’t usually have much time to myself, which is why I sometimes light my beautiful Neom Organics three wick candle to provide me with a little bit of down time before I close my eyes for the day.
