Today is my blog’s first Birthday and because my blog is my baby, I wanted to share a few thoughts on one year of blogging on Tashiskervin.com. My blog has become my pride and joy. I am so proud of what I have achieved, which is funny because I started this blog out of boredom. It was a bland afternoon at work that led to the birth of this blog and I did not expect it to become the website that it is today.
I like having my own little space on the Internet where I can write down all of my thoughts, feelings and findings. I always try to be transparent with my blog because it’s a personal blog and should be an accurate reflection of me and my life. The last thing I would want is for a stranger to meet me and think “I prefer her on her blog!” Or for a friend to read my blog and think “What is Tashi going on about?”
When I started my blog, I didn’t really have any long term goals or expectations and a year later I’m still in the same boat. But my boat is still floating, so let’s just see where it takes me.
Blogging is timely and it requires a lot of creative energy. There have been multiple times on a Sunday evening where I have laid in bed and thought “I have nothing to blog about tomorrow”. And sometimes I write a blog post and read it back to myself and think “No one is going to be interested in this” and discard the post. But it’s all a learning curve and the more I blog, the better I will become.
The opportunities that I have had as a result of blogging have been amongst the proudest moments of my life. I had never dreamt of working on global campaigns with brands that I have grown up wearing and bloggers who I have followed for years. My friendship group and network in London has doubled over the past year, and I don’t see these people as my ‘blog friends’, I see them as my friends because that is what they are. Friends.
Blogging has taught me a lot about myself and my love for writing has blossomed. My heart beams when a person tells me that they have enjoyed reading one of my blog posts, or felt motivated to join the gym after reading my exercise tips. I write to share my experiences and feelings, but also because I want to empower people. I want people to not give up on love and become the best that they can be. I want my blog to encourage readers to find just one reason to smile and use that reason to make sure that they smile every day.
I’m excited to see what another year online will bring, I hope to make some more YouTube appearances but until then you will find me here writing about all of the things that I love.
Go Shawty, it’s your Birthday!
