So many people are against the phrase “New Year new me”, but I am all for it. I fully support anyone who is trying to better themselves. The New Year is a great pendulum to swing on in order to kick start whatever it is you’re trying to change or achieve and this year I am riding the New Year wave to make sure that it’s my best year yet. 2016 taught me a lot about myself and other people and I have listed 7 things that I have learned to help me to have a healthy, happy and successful 2017.
I am following my dreams
This year I am going to follow my dreams. Actually no, I’m not following them, I am chasing them and I will not stop until I have my dreams in the palms of my hands. This year I have gone back to working as a freelancer and for me it’s the best choice that I could have made. I like having the flexibility event though it lacks stability, but fortunately I have used the years since graduating wisely to ensure that I have a client base and enough work coming in to support me whilst I invest more time in my blog.
I am going to build my presence on YouTube
There is a reason why I have been dipping in and out of YouTube and not really giving it my all and it’s because it took me a while to find my style. I didn’t know what I wanted to create or what I wanted to show you, I just knew that I didn’t want to produce videos that didn’t reflect me or my personality, just to fit in with the status quo. After many nights of brainstorming and researching I have finally found my place on YouTube and I am excited to bring content that will hopefully inspire you to workout, run, travel and or something new.
I will be qualifying as a Personal trainer
Late last year I decided to get my personal training qualifications and I am so excited to use my new skills and education to help you to become fitter, stronger and run faster and to bring you better fitness related content. I don’t want to reveal too much but I am excited to share this journey with you!
I’m investing my time in friendships more wisely
Last year I realised that I had been holding on to friendships that were no more, for no real reason other than it’s sad to see childhood friends turn into strangers. But that’s life. You grow up and you change but your new interests will allow you to form new friendships. Like I said, that’s life and you know what? That’s ok because your true friends, your twin flames and your soulmates will always be around. They will never let you go and you will hold on to them no matter how much time has passed or the distance between you.
I am going to explore more of London
I have been living in London for six years and when it comes to exploring, I have barely scratched the surfaces! Like most Londoners, I have absolutely no idea what exists outside of zone 4 (excluding Heathrow airport) so this year I am going to be explore more of this glorious city and share all of my findings with you. I actually want to explore more of the UK too, there are so many beautiful towns and stony streets that are waiting to be walked over, so this year I am going to try my best to find the natural beauty within the country that I live in.
I am going to explore more of the world on foot
Last year my passion took me to Berlin and Amsterdam and this year I will be heading back to Berlin to run a half marathon. I never thought that I would be getting on a plane to run half marathons in different countries but I’ve caught the half marathon bug and I don’t want it to go away. Besides, the best tours are the ones that you do on foot so running a half marathon through an unknown city is my kind of adventure.
I’m going to marry the love of my life
This is probably going to be the biggest and most significant change in my life. I am getting married to the love of my life and my soul mate in a little over 5 weeks. So much planning and time has been invested into our wedding, I can’t wait to see it come to life and finally say ‘I do’ to the one who I’ve decided to spend forever with.
2017, you’ve got a lot to live up to. Not because I’m expecting anything from you but it’s because I am determined and prepared to work until I have achieved everything I have set out to do.
What are your goals for 2017 and what are you looking forward to the most?
