If you switch on your TV, surf the internet or go into an underground station in London, you may find yourself staring into a pair of pretty green eyes; but who is the girl behind the face that seems to be appearing everywhere?
Gabi is in the USA Pro #Joinourmovement campaign, which is currently been shown on TV screens across the UK.
The fitness model used her spare time during university to start a career in modelling and when she isn’t working up a sweat on set, she is pursuing her goal of becoming a reporter and TV presenter.
I first met Gabi in 2013 and I can remember thinking that she had the most beautiful green eyes that I had ever seen. Our love for fitness and the Daily Mail’s side bar of shame soon helped us to form a friendship and I am excited to watch her career progress as a model and presenter.
I started our interview with the most important question:
– Gabi, could you survive the Hunger Games?
I’m quite competitive, so I think I would do pretty well. But I’m really impatient so the waiting side of it, in the terms of making your next move, would weaken my chances of surviving as I would probably do something silly out of frustration! And I am not sure if I’d like the idea of killing off my friends!
-What’s the most challenging thing that you have done in your modeling career?
The most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do was the USA Pro advert which came out over Christmas (Video above). I was doing burpees, sprints, boxing and weights over and over again for about 3 hours. I nearly had to walk off set to be sick! They wanted me to look really intense and really be working out – and looking at the finished product, I think it was well worth it.
-Tell me about your exercise regime?
Being a fitness model, the directors and brands all expect you to be able to keep up and perform on set, so that’s quite a big motivating factor for me to work out. It would be embarrassing to turn up to a shoot and have to call time because I was worn out! I love running but I always have shin splints which annoyingly restricts how much I can do, so I often do spinning twice a week. I always like to do cardio before weight training, just because it wakes me up and makes me feel like I’m working out!
-Do you ever have cheat meals?
I try to eat healthily on a day to day basis, but if I am going out to meet friends for a meal, I don’t hold back. There’s nothing worse than not being able to enjoy yourself with your friends because your counting calories. I think balance is key so a little bad isn’t always bad! If I’m pigging out I always have a burger followed by something chocolatey!
– When was the last time you felt star-strucked?
I wouldn’t say i get star-struck that easily, but I was so excited to interview Cheryl Cole before the X Factor finals last year. I was in absolute awe of her beauty. She’s amazing, and super nice.
– What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m really outdoorsy and love animals so I often go to my parents, who live in the countryside, and chill with our dogs Olive and Buzz.
– What’s next for Gabi?
I’ve just been signed to a new agency which is quite exciting and I am hoping to continue to do fitness stuff as before but also branch into the commercial side of modelling too, which is what the new agency will offer!
