What do almost housewives do on a Wednesday evening in the run up to Christmas? They meet up with their friends and bake scrumptious treats of course!
Like most people I enjoy indulging over the festive period but my birthday is in January, which means that I frequently find myself turning down a lot of the treats that appear around Christmas due to wanting to look my best in my birthday dress.
I am always looking for healthy treats to satisfy my sugar cravings, but the recipes that I usually find on the internet often leave me with a cake that looks and tastes like sick.
Zanna Van Dijk has answered prayers around the world by creating not one but two E-books that are dedicated to giving you the treats you crave, without adding inches to your waistline. Zanna is changing the world, one bland healthy meal at a time!
Zanna is an Optimum Nutrition sponsored athlete and a genius in the kitchen. Whether you are craving Nutella, brownies, or need to whip up a cake to impress the in laws, Zanna has over 80 recipes for you to choose from.
Nutella is many peoples kryptonite, but Ferrero Rocher’s are my favourite Christmas treat so I asked Zanna to create her Ooey Gooey Nutella cookies because they taste like both!
Like all of Zanna’s recipes, the Ooey Gooey Nutella cookies are quick and easy to make and only contain a few ingredients. Zanna’s treats include healthy wholesome and nutritious food and each recipe can be adapted to suit your dietary needs.
I watched in awe as Zanna unleashed her inner Michelin Chef and whipped together her recipe in the middle of my kitchen. When she had finished mixing, she placed her creation into the oven, but not before we both had a spoonful or two of the raw cookie dough.
The cookies were ready in just a few minutes and they were everything that I could have asked for. Hard on the outside, gooey in the middle and like a lighter version of my beloved Ferrero Rocher. I often find that chocolate can leave you feeling a bit sluggish, but these cookies will not leave you with regret.
Before you start, preheat your oven to 180 degrees celsius.
1/3 cup Honey
1/4 tsp of Baking Powder
1tsp of coconut or almond flour
Mix all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl until you achieve a dough like consistency (add almond milk if necessary).
Grease your baking tray and place your cookie dough on top and pop them in the oven for around 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, take you cookies out and leave them on the side to cool for a few minutes and enjoy!
Eating healthily does not have to be boring and it certainly should not make you feel like you are restricting yourself and missing out on the finer things in life. What is life without good food (and wine)?
