Summer has arrived and I think it’s fair to say that we all want to feel confident in our summer clothes. Confidence is sexy and there is nothing more beautiful than a person who is happy with the skin that they’re in. But, I often feel that as summer approaches, we put ourselves under immense pressure to get “bikini ready”. When in fact, you already look fine. I look fine, we all look fine! But if you are hesitating to wear a pair of shorts or stepping out onto the shore in a two piece, here are a few tips to ensure that you spend the warm summer days feeling comfortable in the skin that you are in.
I don’t think you can go wrong with a bikini that fits you well and suits your body shape. I have a really short body and long legs so I stay away from high waisted bikini bottoms because they do nothing for me. Yes, they’ll make my legs look even longer, but in return they will make my body look shorter.
Triangl Swim is my favourite bikini brand for the second summer in a row. They are just so flattering and they come in the most beautiful designs and colours.
Living in England, where the sun doesn’t shine, I rarely put on sun cream because it’s usually neither hot or sunny but I can’t tell you the amount of times where I have taken off my Sunglasses to see that I have caught the sun. Although my foundation does have an SPF, I am now making the conscious effort to apply sun cream to my body because nothing makes your skin age quite like sun damage.
As the days become longer and the air becomes warmer, I say goodbye to the treadmill and hello to the greater outdoors. And with the Olympics around the corner, I have never been more motivated to do sprinting like I am now.
Not only does it torch fat and improve your cardiovascular fitness, I find that sprinting tones my glutes AND it works my abs. Sprinting is one of the only exercises that actually targets the stubborn layer of fat which I assume is covering my lower abs! Find a track, put in your headphones and give it your best shot.
The sugary and alcoholic beverages may be refreshing by they will be responsible for breakouts and tired looking skin. Keep your skin feeling soft and looking youthful and supple by drinking water, lots of it. Aim for at least 2 litres of water a day and if you are training, you should be looking to drink more. If you struggle to drink enough water everyday, try flavouring your water with fresh
Apply Coconut Oil
Coconut oil should be considered as one of the wonders of the world because there seems to be no end to it’s uses. It even has a natural SPF of 4. If you have been bitten by mosquitos, put some coconut oil on it. If your hair has become brittle due to salt water or chlorine, put some coconut oil on it and if you’re feeling a little bit burnt after spending too much time in the sun, you know what to do…Put some coconut oil on it!
I hope these tips help you to feel a little bit more confident in a bikini, a pair of shorts or whatever it may be, but always remember that you are beautiful anyway.
