5 Reasons To Try Sup Yoga





I’ve lost count of the amount of times that I have vowed to do more Yoga. I do about one session a month and every time I do yoga, I remember why I made that vow. It’s challenging, relaxing and a great core workout, which helps to improve my performance in the gym. I’ve done a range of yoga classes, but I’ve finally found a form of yoga that I am going to commit to (or so she says!)

Sup Yoga involves doing yoga on water. It’s harder than traditional yoga but the experience is so rewarding. I did my first sup yoga session with Aqua Physical at the Serpentine Lido and it was everything that I hoped it would be. It was challenging, made me laugh and feel slightly scared, but it was the perfect way to cool off as the sun bellowed over London. I never knew that Hyde Park could feel so peaceful.

Here are a few reasons why you should try Sup Yoga.

  1. It’s Fun

Once you have accepted that it is highly likely that you are going to fall in, it becomes a lot of fun and there is nothing like watching the person beside you take a tumble. Sup Yoga isn’t as hard as it looks and you will soon start to feel more confident and begin to enjoy it. You may even try the advanced poses (and that is when you fall in).


  1. Improves Core Strength

Sup Yoga engages your core more than traditional yoga because it involves balancing on water. If you don’t have a tight core you will end up on the floor, so prepare to tense those abs! You’ll find yourself naturally engaging your abs as you focus on your balance, and this will instantly improve your technique and give you a better workout.

  1. It’s Relaxing.


Life is too busy, we all need to find the time to just be still and have some downtime. Doing Yoga on the water as you watch the sunset will see all of your worries, aches and pains disappear. The sound of the water and feeling the waves gently rocking the board beneath you, will bring you to the most tranquil place where the peace cannot be disturbed…unless you fall in.

Sup yoga is a great photo opportunity! We all want to get “that photo” and when you are doing Sup yoga there are plenty of opportunities to get “that photo”. You can do Sup Yoga in some of the most beautiful places that this world has to offer, so practice your favourite Yoga poses and don’t forget to smile!

Sup Yoga makes you appreciate the worlds natural beauty. Whether you’re in the middle of the Caribbean Sea or in Hyde Park surrounded by Swans, Sup Yoga will show you just how magical mother nature can be. It will also give you a sense of adventure and spark a burning desire to travel or try something new.
